By utilizing the writings of the Byzantine historian Procopius, a contemporary of Justinian, as well as the writings of modern historians, the goal of the paper is to show the extent to which Justinian’s influence is felt throughout the Early Middle Ages, defined in this essay as the period from 467 to 1100.
